During the trip, our friend who was a camp host heard word of a beached Humpback whale that was brought in by a storm on Christmas day to a remote beach. We knew we had to make the 8+ mile trek through the chaparral to get a chance to see such a rare sight. I will never forget the feeling of being so close to such a large animal, or the smell.
